Why we cooperate – Perspectives on 70 years of international cooperation in theatre and cultural work.
“In times of global crises and wars especially of authoritarianism and populism, it’s essential for us to strengthen our networks, to continue to push international dialogue and to support working across borders in all its facets. It fills us with concern and anger to see how artists and cultural professionals are being massively restricted in their international work through a decrease in funding, through repression in more and more countries and through obstacles, not least in obtaining visas. These threats concern us with regard to Germany’s foreign cultural policy as well as its domestic cultural policy: Which international stakeholders can and will want to accept our invitations in future? How can we shape the forms and formats of international collaborations? What kind of physical visibility will exist in future?”
Yvonne Büdenhöler and Juliane Zellner
